This privacy policy will explain how Markfolder uses the personal data we collect from you when you use our browser extension, and website, https://markfolder.com.

We treat everyone's privacy like we treat our own - very seriously.

What data do we collect?

Markfolder collects the following data from you when you sign up:

  • Your Twitter ID
  • Your Twitter avatar image
  • Your email address

Optionally, we also collect anonymous usage information which we send to Google Analytics to help us improve this service. At the moment we do not yet have the ability for you to opt-out of us sending your browsing activity data to Google Analytics, but we will do soon. If you do not want us to send your anonymous browsing acivity data to Google Analytics, please stop using Markfolder now.

How do we collect your data?

You directly provide Markfolder with most of the data we collect. We collect data and process data when you:

  • Sign up at https://markfolder.com
  • Use or view our website via your browser's cookies
  • Use the browser extension via your browser's cookies

All communication between your browser and our servers are encrypted, which means that it is not readable by anyone "on the wire" while en route.

How will we use your data?

Markfolder collects your data so that we can:

  • Provide the bookmarking service that you use
  • Display your information on the website when you are logged in
  • Email you important updates about Markfolder
  • Email you important updates about your account

How do we store your data?

Markfolder stores your data in a MySQL database on a server in the UK.

All passwords are hashed, which means even if passwords are leaked, they are not readable and not easily guessed.

At this time, all other information are stored without encryption.

How do we keep your information secure?

Markfolder will maintain appropriate technical and organisational security measures designed to protect your personal information from accidental loss, unauthorized use, alteration, or disclosure.

Although we implement and maintain security measures that are appropriate for our business activities, please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable and any transmission of personal information is at your own risk.

You must also make sure that your information is safe and secure. We are not responsible if you circumvent any privacy settings or security measures on our websites. Even if we give you (or you have chosen) a password for access to certain parts of our website, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential.

Newsletters

If you have opted in to receive regular updates by email from us (i.e. our "newsletter"), then we would share your name and email address with Mailchimp.com, where we host our mailing lists and newsletters. Every newsletter contains a link and instructions for unsubscribing to our newsletters.
